Melbourne

This weekend was my anniversary with Connie. We decided to fly to melbourne for a few days and see what we were missing all this time :)

I'd arranged with some of the AusNS people to meet up and get shown around melbourne. We met them outside the nike store in the city on the first morning and got a nice guided tour around the city. The first, and most eventful, stop on our trip was lunch at lygon street. We picked some random italian restaurant, and I ordered a pizza. Luke (sub jnr) wasn't going to eat, because he'd already had soem food, but he was curious when he saw this perplexing menu item, so he got a small, and we were all left wondering as they cooked our pizzas who roy was, and what he would choose to put on a pizza. The best theory was that Roy was in fact a goat, and anything he tried to eat went on the pizza. After a few minutes, the waitress brought out this pizza, and luke was quite pleased with himself. Before the waitress left she promised that we'd get a few suprises because we ordered Roy's choice. As you can guess, this only added to the mystery shrouding this humble pizza.

Our first suprise came towards the end of our meal. Carlos (wtf? where is roy!!!?!) came out dressed in a weird mask and pretended to spill coffee on us. No one really jumped, we were kinda full from the meal.

Our second suprise was a "free" hot chocolate which was really an upside down cup with froth and a marshmellow on it. I was beginning to think you had to be drunk to get into this whole suprise thing. That's when they brought out the third and final suprise, free chocolate pizza. It was so good... and FREE! everyone was quite happy with roy at that point, so he finally came out and said hello.

We paid our bill and moved on. Incarnate met up with us and we took a little tour through a few of the less exposed streets in melbourne, there was an awesome busking band type thing in this alley playing cool music, but I didn't get a photo :( We walked around soem more and ended up at the lounge, this place where alcohol I like is really expensive, and beer is really cheap. Cool atmosphere though, and awesome music. If pubs in Sydney were more like it I'd be more inclined to go out here. Anyways more internet dudes rocked up ([SuB] and aspekt) and had one drink with us before buggering off to some... thing... that I didn't catch... and we walked downstairs and ran into the icy manipulator (sonic manipulator). I got my photo taken with him, and we admired his martian rap music, before heading off to try and find karaoke/eat sushi. The karaoke search was fruitless, so we chilled in this cafe for a while, drawing pictures on the table and chatting. It was nice. After that, luke took us to a jazz place, and we sat down feeling pretty tired TOKEN SPETZ SHOT and listening to the music. The jazz band was late in setting up and everyone had to go home, so we blew that popsicle stand and went our separate ways. Thanks to my UBER company for the day: steve (spetz), steve (superbeast), john (incarnate), and luke (sub jnr). Cameos by Andrew ([SuB]) and whatever aspekt's real name is.


The next day me and connie chilled out a lot and I took photos. We also went to see bill henson's exhibition at fed square. It was friggin spooky and i felt uncomfortable, sad and upset at the photos, but the man has a lot of talent (borderline child pronography aside). It's hard to make photos that emotional.
I tried to go for a skate in the afternoon, but the park was too full. For dinner we both had this awesome japanese food.


Monday came, and we met up with ruthy for some shopping and chin wagging. We had nice thai for lunch, and helped her out with her photography assignment for a bit. It was really pleasant and cruisey. After a few layabout hours, we went with ruthy to the bus depot thingy and headed off to the airport. Melbourne airport is cool, you can sit and watch the international departures from the food court, and I tell you, it gave me the travel bug badass. Can't wait to go back overseas later this year - or erarly next year. That will be awesome.

All in all, I had a great time. Thanks to everyone who wished me happy anniversary in the lkast like 7 days :) and thanks again to my guides and company in melbourne.
