mad plans
I was considering staying up all night last night and starting work at like 4 or 5am, working throuhg til about 2pm or so then going home for a nap. It seemed like the perfect plan! Bed was looking way too good to pass up though, so I vetoed that idea :)
radio download is up: http://www.ausns.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=10226&hl=
I think it's a pretty heftly download, so you might require broadband (or a lot of patience)
I played indoor cricket tonight for amit's team. It was ok... off the first ball of my first over bowling I dove to try and cut off a ball that was going for 4, and knocked my head. I have to say that's the first time I've ever "seen stars" and they definately do look like stars. I thought it was more of a movie cliche, but it's not. Needless to say the rest of my over was pretty sub standard. I did bowl a guy in my second over, and get a caught behind... that was cool. I batted ok too, hit a couple of sixes. It was a fun game.

The garbage day blues
This week Connie, my wife, has been out of town, she's working about an hour and a half away at wollongong and staying there with work collegues during the week. As you'd expect it's my job to do all the necessary house duties while I'm the only one at home, and so I have been cooking and cleaning a little. On monday I noticed a particularly "mature" mango sitting in the fridge, and I got a little worried that it would start to smell before garbage day, which is thursday, so I thought I should preserve it by putting it in the freezer. Fast forward to last night.
Depsite being pretty busy with radio last night, I managed to remember that it was garbage night, AND I remembered the mature mango, which by now had the same weight and hardness as a small boulder. Taking it out of the freezer, I juggled the frozen mass precariously and dropped it into the bin with a thud. Now, our garbage bin is usually quite empty because it gets emptied every week, and we don't make a lot of mess unlike the young families on either side of us, who manage to defy the laws of physics every week with how much garbage they can squash into an undersized otto bin. Recycling on the other hand is only emptied once every two weeks, and we go damn close to filling it up by the time that two weeks rolls around. This week the bin was three quaters full, and I was the only person in the house half that time. So with haste I put both the bins out as I arrived home last night, making sure they were on the road instead of the footpath so that the garbo could get to them nicely (everyone on our street does this). Fast forward to this morning.
I woke up and got ready for work, and was taking my time enjoying the sun and the lazy summer air when I heard the garbage truck approaching. He was stop-starting his way down the street, at an impressive rate, and I made a mental note after I'd heard him slowly disappear down the road into the next street, to collect the bins before leaving for work. Now I should explain that in my street there are about 4-5 blocks of townhouses next to each other, and so bin space is hard to come by sometimes, so quite often about 20 metres of the street is taken up by bins linging the road. Kinda like a little garbage truck tickertape parade, where the bins are lining the streets to cheer on the bohemoth truck. The other thing about my place is that we live quite close to the hospital. So of a morning, parking space is sometimes in quite short supply.
Anyway I walked outside, and to my dismay some guy had parked in front of all the bins outside my house. This sounds pretty anticlimactic, but let me explain that this guy had to reverse in at an angle and park way out onto the street to manage this feat, because all our recycling bins were not very well aligned, and they were actually sitting in the gutter as I mentioned, not on the footpath. So this guy's car is sitting there blocking off all our bins, and sticking out halfway across the lane on the road. Needless to say the garbage guy went straight past all the bins behind the car. So by the time recycling day comes around again, I'll have a month worth of stuff in the bin, and I shudder to think what the families with full bins that didn't get picked up will do. Their grabage was overflowing as it was. It was about this time that I remembered my friend the "massive mature mango". Looking around frantically I found I'd put the bin on the other side of the driveway, and it hadn't been parked in!
So thankfully although some inconsiderate person has parked in my recycling for another two weeks (even though there was perfectly OK parking 25 metres down the road), I'll at least be spared the trauma that could have occurred if that mango had have been left to thaw and rot in my bin for the coming week.

here's the mp3 snippet of just the end bit of the show where the guy is talking about fatigue. The people talking on radio can't hear the background music at all while we're talking. To us it just sounds silent. We only found out it was happening when everyone was laughing about it on IRC.

you put the boom boom into my heart!
Well radio is over for this week :D we started a bit nervously, but everything ended up ok. The panel was a bit crap. We had way too many people on it. 0cool was definately a winnar with the fans (if you didn't listen to it you'll have no idea what that means). It was pretty stressful doing everything and making sure that myself and superbeast (my co-host) didn't sound too lame. The funniest thing ever was at the end of the show. We had this guy just talking about random stuff and it was kinda going no where, so spetz (our DJ) turned wham's "wake me up before you go go" in the background while he was talking... apparently it sounded pretty funny because he was talking about fatigue :D
The download for the show should be available some time in the next couple of days. I'll link to it here when I can. There were a few problems with myf and emma tuning in, so next week if you guys wanna listen, try loading the url a few times after 8:30 because it has problems switching over from the auto DJ to our show, so if you close winamp and restart it'll probably work OK.
I'm missing connie a lot now. It's not too long before I'll see her, but it's hard being away from the one you love for so long (first time since we've been married that we've been away from each other for more than a day or so). Now apparently some Christian couples when they get married promise to pray together every day. How do you do that if your spouse goes on a business trip? What if one of the couple is in a coma? hmmm these are pretty nitpicky questions I guess but I was thinking about it the other day.
Anyways people that's all from tonight. Seeya tomorrow perhaps :D

I'm so wonewyyyyyyy!
Connie is still in wollongong. Tonight was ok though, I cooked myself some nice rice, figured out radio for tomorrow and just chilled out a bit. So much to do this week though, the next few days will be crazy.
In other news: chito has found my camera that I want in japan, but it has japanese labels. Need to play more slime forest :P
I'll post up here tomorrow night around 8pm with details on how to tune into the radio program. It's on gamesurge radio, so if I forget you might be able to google it or something. You'll also need winamp... or MAYBE media player to listen.

angstometer rising!
This is how I feel at the moment with regards to people who have planks of wood in their eyes.
I am feeling a little frustrated and angsty at the moment. It sometimes feels that no matter how much you try your best, and do things the right way, someone always has to have a go at you. That's when it hurts the most. I can usually take knocks without too much pain if they are warrented or just plainly stupid, but if I'm trying really hard at something to the point of my own detriment and someone nitpicks at my imperfection in what I'm doing, that cuts deep. I find it hard not to get defensive, or angry, or upset. Sometimes it's safer not to try, but then you don't get the highs that also come with that. I'm kind of irrational and vulerable when I put my heart and soul into something, and I think I'm on the way to destruction at the moment because my heart and soul are in, and the hard times are just beginning.
wish me luck :O
In happier news, this weekend was nice. I went skating three times, spent a lot of time with connie, and just slept lots. Connie is off to wollongong for 3 weeks for work, and she will only be back on weekends (party @ my house eh!). I'll miss her a lot, hopefully we'll talk on the phone - but I don't think she'll have email. This coming week I'm hoping to get some video editing done, so my blogs will be pretty boring. Maybe something crazy will happen to me to keep things interesting, but more than likely it'll just be the cliche old "went to work, played basketball, slept" kind of blog.
