Cricketo!
Hey guy! I played indoor cricket this evening. Despite 45 mins of practice before the game I still managed to play pretty crasp. It was fun though :O I had a great time. Some dudes from work were talking about starting a team... I dunno if I have time.

Nothing much else is going on. Khanh is back in town this week though, which is rather exciting! We'll probably try to hang out with her quite a bit over the next couple of weeks, going skating and eating out like 20-somethings seem to do. What's everybody doing for Australia day? I've been invited to a couple of things but I don't know what to do yet. Do they have cricket on Australia day? Because they totally should. What's more Australian than watching cricket from your ute while eating a vegemite sandwich and drinking a beer?*

So in other news, I'm thinking of getting a nintendo DS. Everyone keeps telling me the PSP will be better though :\ So I dunno what to do.











* ignore the fact that cricket is an english sport, utes are usually made overseas, and vegemite is made by an american company.

So anyway I have $1265 to spend on stuff from sanity.com.au and I don't know what to buy. Suggestions? Amit said he'd pay me to get hima couple of ps2 games... so I have about a grand left to spend :O

I went to a NS LAN and bbq on the weekend, here is my account of the event.
You more than likely wont know any of these people as they are all NS nerds like me.

Part 1 - KEKEQ

I have to admit, I was looking forward to the kekeq this week. The promised interstate drawcards, and assurance from Trojan and dral that aftershock's house is wtfpwn had me morbidly curious about the weekend's geekathon. I drove to shocky's and got out of the car, sadly, unlike kekeq1, there was no handy signs or blaring music alerting me to the presence of fun. I timidly scoped out the residence of shocky and alarmingly found a middle aged man in the garage.

what...the...?

A quick call to shocky's mobile and I learned he was out buying some nubfood for the kekeq, and the man was his dad. I decided to be cautious and gutter-hang until they came back from the shops. Once inside everything was OK, except we learned that while shocky was out, mike's dad came looking for him because he was worried we were all criminals or nerds or something. Chunky soup being older and wiser than the rest of us noobs handled the situation like a pro and happily mike was allowed to stay. It wasn't long before flakky, self proclaimed soul calibur king, aka cheapo tot he max, started throwing downt he gauntlet to everyone challenging them to duels. He managed to nub his way through the entire LAN, beating everyone witht he use of one button. GG flak for turning nubbery into an artform.

Meanwhile the KEKEQ was in full swing and shocky was cooking steaks. Someone hid my gourmet sausages so I spent about a half hour looking for those. I'm assuming interesting stuff happened while I was doing that, but I don't know what it was. The sausages dubiously turned up hidden in the meat pile of one da_snitz and cousin (cardboard I think his nick is?), however snitz had the most proleet food at the kekeq so I think we can discount him as a suspect. Anyways I cooked the sausages a bit and gave one to aker (spelling?) to try. He said they were a bit raw still, so I threw them back on the grill for some burnination. Sorry if you get salmonela aker, I didn't mean to hurt you, I dodn't want to make you cry.

Everyone basically sat around and ate for a bit. I tried to catch a blue tongue lizard using a sausage but I was unsuccessful. Fork was keen to start bush bashing around to have a second attempt, but he didn't want to dirty his jeans or he might have to wash off all the drawings :( que sera, sera.

It was about this time that a guy wearing a microsoft project shirt rocked up to the kekeq. Now there was only two people on the list that weren't there yet, and this guy definately wasn't minirum (who never made it in the end tbh) so of course it had to be the one and only maverick. *cue terminator theme* Maverick is a nice guy irl. Tbh I don't have a problem with him on the net either... but meh I think it was nice he came to hang out with us. Although he did seem a little insecure about custom maps and was talking to me about how awesome aanet is. As a side note, his camera was the weirdest digicam shape I've seen for a while. It was cool though. He brought a friend who I'd never heard of before - some aanet guy. They were both pretty social. It's a shame they had to bail before the LAN.

Things were starting to wind up a bit at this stage, and I was considering leaving until mike and my supr LAN buddy takilla made it clear they were keen for some basketball. Of course we went up the street to the ring immediately. I managed to lose the ball on the first shot into a garden and we spent about 15 mins trampling some bushes looking for it. After that we had a good game. Takilla carried me and novaphoenix to victory with his patented "lazyshot" that went in way too often for it to be a fluke. Khaless was trying to play whiles riding the unicycle. He did ok but he's a nub at shooting.

Sadly I was already late for a birthday party at this point, so I waved goodbye and promised to be back later for some LAN action.

PART 2 - THE LAN

I rocked up to the LAN at about midnight, hoping I hadn't missed anything. I'm pretty sure I hadn't because everyone was still playing in a massive NS game, and that's usually just the start of festivities. I got introduced to roxy (omg girl) and spazzwank and this other guy I don't recall. They were all pretty normal suprisngly enough :) gg guys for being social and cool. Takilla had backstabbed me by sitting with some other nubcaeks, so I niged it up by myself and got bob to give me NS. JUST IN TIME FOR THE GAME TO FINSIH. After that we played some incredibly lopsided games of UT2k4 with about 2-3 excellent balanced games mixed in. I kinda forget what games we played, and you probably don't care so I'll just talk about interesting stuff.

Everyone was watching futurama and simpsons on and off. It was a bit creepy. Thrasher though, was watching naruto like ALL night after the NS stopped. He was a cool guy though, and definately not random. It was pretty disappointing that trojan didn't get to pwn up virtual aquarium again as well. He is definately the guru at that game, and at past LANs, you'd walk by his PC and it would be thick with all these crazy fish swiming around. I think he has some kind of OGC for aquarium games. I also got to meet kabab, even though minirum was too soft to come to the LAN. It is blindingly clear who is the superior brother. I tip my hat to you kabab for showing minirum up.

About 4am I was getting hungry, so me and bob decided to get some eats. We rocked up to maccas and were staring blankly at the menu trying to figure out how to speak again. LANs sort of sap your personal skills a little when you get tired. Anyway some commotion broke out on the tables behind us, and we turned around to see a girl smacking the living daylights out of this other girls face repeatedly. There was so much friggin blood all over her face it was scary. Needless to say we were stunned, and just standing there like WTF??????? anyways dudes jumped in and broke it up after some more hair pulling and trash talking. A second fight nearly broke out soon after as well between another girl and the girl who got the living snot beat out of her. She must have some kind of "HIT ME I CAN TAKE IT" aura about her that only girls can sense. Me and bob just left with out mcmuffins in hand and our mouths agape.

As the hours went on I was getting more and more tired. I dozed off on a GA server as a fade in marine spawn, and woke up to find someone knifing me. That was a bit weird... and I have no idea how I survived. Anyways people started leaving the LAN, and I was doing ym best to try to stay awake. Whilst talking to lerky over MSN I actually fell asleep properly, and woke up with no concept of time or space. For a few seconds I was just hoping I hadn't slept through sunday or something. I turned around and happily thrasher was still there watching naruto so I lethargically got up, bid thrasher goodbye and made my way home.
