I've been up until like 3 or 4am every night this week doing video editing. It's been worth the painful zombie-like daytime periods though, because I finsihed the video last night and it is cool. I think it's probably one of my better editing jobs. The video is for werrifest (the camp from january that I went on) and I'm hoping to get the DVD out by friday to all the youth, although I have no idea how I'm going to do that many copies in 24 hours.
This chilean guy called chico was typing comments in spanish on sarah's livejournal today. I had a go at translating them, and I think I did OK. I've had three lessons in spanish, so I really only know the basic words + some words that are similar from italian. Here is the comment:
No es bueno cuando la gente en el Internet mira malos sitios. Mi hermano es muy malo, él ama desnudez, pero él la hace en mi computadora, así que consigo la culpa. No es justa. Él admite a ella sin embargo. Hace mis padres e I tristes, porque creemos muy fuertemente que la pornografía es mala, porque creemos en Jesús y su vida para nosotros. Bien, tengo que ahora ir. Consiguió alimentar mi gato. Ella come mucho. Ella es muy gorda. Adiós, y gracias por darme la bienvenida.
Chico.
here is my attempt at translation:
Something about not being a good man at using internet sites. You have bad things on your computer which make you sad, and you don't know who did it. it's not fair/right. You admit it makes you sin. You have friends you trust, something about very angry what pornography is sad. something about jesus and living with friends. good, , his cat signs off? he really likes ella. bye, and thanks for being a good friend?
and here is what babelfish said the text means:
It is not good when people in the Internet watch bad sites. My brother is very bad, he loves nakedness, but he does it in my computer, so with himself the fault. She is not right. He admits her nevertheless. He makes my sad parents and Is, because we create very strongly that the pornography is bad, because we create in Jesus and his life for us. Well, I must now go. It was able to feed my cat. It eats much. It is very fat. Good bye, and thanks to give the welcome me.
I reckon that's not too bad. I'm kinda more keen to learn japanese now though, because I was thinking of going there, but my heart remains torn between the two languages as my "next little project".
Some more interesting news is that I might be an internet radio host soon. It's for an internet gaming radio station, so it's pretty nerdy, but meh... I'd like to give it a go and see how I do. If it all comes through and happens, I'll post details here on how you can hear me do my thing. It'll be wednesdays from 8:30-9:30 if it happens. You might even be able to request a song, depending on how things go. I hope I don't suck at being on radio, that would be really uncomfortable. If I suck I think I'll pretend to be a quietly spoken hobo.
Other than that, there's not a lot else going on. I wasn't going to come to work today because I felt sick from these evil tortilla things that I ate last night, but I wasn't sick enough to stay at home without feeling guilty, so I decded to go in after all :D

3 Comments:
I didn't know you knew spanish, and that's the best babelfish translation I've ever seen. Usually it's a POS.
As far as the radio goes, I was hoping to get out of requests because downloading obscure tracks from everywhere is time consuming, and alternatively I could blast my own stuff. But I see how this is a total conflict of interest between me and everyone else, so I'll end up bowing down to the request monster D:
I decided to give up livejournal a bit, and have a more public blog here, so hey hey. :)
Except for that Chico is not really Chico.
You told him, dude! I thought you were going to trick him or something.
I don't know heaps of spanish, just like all the joining words, and a few emotives and nouns I've picked up here and there, so I can sometimes piece together what is going on. The babelfish translation was so accurate because it was a babelfish created piece of spanish in the first place apparently :D (damn you carl!).
I'll have to check your blogspot then instead of the livejournal? I still read it. As for the requests, I'm happy to just program it ourselves for the first week, so long as i can throw in a track or two of my own hehehe :D
sarah: I didn't tell carl, he said "I'm chico" and I said "i know". I was planning on playing along with it for a while, but honesty prevailed.
